Why!
I was in conversation with one of the managers who was complaining about his team asking him too many questions for simple day to day tasks and instructions.
He felt the team members constantly questioned each decision of his and wanted more information than what he had to share.
According to him he was clear about what the team needs to do and how it has to be done.
On the other hand the team members felt they didn’t have enough clarity and were always directed into action by the manager who believed in “because I said so” philosophy.
Sounds familiar?
Whether it is conversation with team members or any other stakeholders, communicating the “why” is imperative to help them see where you are coming from and not just the What or the How!
Only when you share the “why” the others get aligned, they are able to understand the vision, clarity improves which leads to better commitment and transparency.
How do you communicate the why? How has it helped you so far ? Would love to hear!
